Rebuilding the Rewards Platform
The Disney Rewards redesign was an opportunity to re-architect the front end from the ground up. I led the engineering effort, focusing on a system that was faster, more maintainable, and easier for content authors to work in. The result was a fully responsive platform with 40% faster page loads, a reusable component library, and a consolidated animation layer.
Animated Elements
I consolidated the site's scattered animation libraries into a single JavaScript layer built on GSAP, integrating it with components and visual elements across the experience. That included extending GSAP's horizontal-loop helper to cover the project's different carousel needs.
Custom ES6 Modules
I wrote custom modules to standardize common patterns. scrollTo normalizes user input and converts it, where possible, into something GSAP's ScrollTo plugin can consume. customEvents handles custom events consistently from a global level, with a defined list of available events.
Flexible Content Builder
Harnessing ACF's Flexible Content, I extended the existing custom block system into a component library that's consistent and reusable across both blocks and components. Data is simple to retrieve and templates are easy to call from the back end — and just as easy to clone from ACF, so content authors can build pages without touching code.
WordPress Integration
Every front-end and admin screen has a back-end PHP element behind it. Some ACF blocks render from templates while others pull from a class or library; PHP classes handle data consumption and tie into the displayed templates — keeping the whole system coherent from the database to the rendered page.
